EnergyMark, one of the region’s longstanding energy services companies, is acquiring Crown Energy Services, a West Seneca energy supply company.
EnergyMark, based in Williamsville, and Crown Energy each have been providing natural gas supply services to business and residential customers for more than 20 years.
The deal, scheduled to close Saturday, includes all of Crown Energy’s New York customers as well as supply assets such as energy storage and transportation capacity and production from two dozen local natural gas producers.
“This reflects the trend to consolidation in the energy supply space in New York,” said Gary Marchiori, EnergyMark’s president.
Energy services companies, such as EnergyMark, also are shifting from traditional energy supply to renewable forms of energy. EnergyMark developed a 10-megawatt solar facility on a 50-acre brownfield in West Valley, which generates enough electricity to power over 2,000 homes.
