February Gas Settles Below $2
Natural Gas
Natural gas prices remain depressed with a lack of winter heating demand. February 2020 contracts settled at $1.877/MMBtu, the second lowest settle of any month in that last decade.
Today’s withdrawal of 137 Bcf brings total gas in storage to 2,609 Bcf. Still 615 Bcf or 30.8% ahead of last year.
Electricity
The 30 day average price of real time power has stayed low with cheap gas prices, currently at $16.36/MWh
Energy futures have pushed lower to new decade lows. The 12 month strip is now down to $26.19/MWh.
